11/25/2009 - Universe Project Placed on Hold. Read More.
The University of Utah desires to explore the potential of a transit-oriented development (TOD) on a prime 7.9-acre site at the southwest corner of the University of Utah Campus. A market analysis and development program has been completed by Wikstrom Economic and Planning Consultants, Inc. (a link to the Universe Market Study can be found below). As the next step in this effort, the University has issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) seeking a qualified development team to plan, design, construct and own/manage some components of the development. Those wishing to view and/or respond to the RFQ must register through BidSync to receive all addenda. The development team will work with the University and the community to deliver a high-quality, mixed-use project (the "Universe Project") that includes commercial uses, housing, and public/student parking. The future development should create a vibrant campus center, associated commercial uses, and housing on the site. The RFQ provides for a staged process for potentially arriving at an agreement to develop this site.
