Planning or design? There is an important difference between the two that you should keep in mind when ever you need to change your physical facilities, labs, classrooms or offices. Arranging funding, scheduling the various tasks, and arranging the needed approvals are a few of the tasks that must be accomplished for the successful completion of a project. These planning steps are preliminary to design. A consultant is frequently needed to help with planning.
Design is the process of determining what changes actually need to be made, and how those changes should be made so that they are functional and attractive. Design is done with the help of a consultant. The consultant will work with you to figure out what needs to be done, how much it will cost, and how it will look when it is complete.
