The Midvalley Health Center is now open.
Construction began in October of 2013 and the state of the art health clinic opened and began operating on March 2nd, 2015. The center is located just north of Fashion Place Mall.
The clinic houses a division of the John A. Moran Eye Center and the Department of Dermatology.
Although it is the newest addition to the University of Utah’s family of buildings, the Midvalley Health Center is already proving to be an asset. The Center qualifies as a LEED Silver structure; meaning the construction process and current building operations are 50-59 percent sustainable.
Facilities Management is always working hard to make sure our buildings and construction processes do not significantly impact the environment; the Midvalley Health Center is right on track with this goal.
The Clinic offers many procedures for both skin and eye conditions. The first and second floor house the John A Moran Eye Center, taking care of thousands of patient’s eye care needs. This Ophthalmology Clinic has replaced Rocky Mountain Ophthalmology, Old Mill Medical Center and Greenwood Health Center, so any patients of these clinics will now be relocated to the new Center. Specialty services available include:
- Comprehensive Ophthalmology
- Corneal Disease
- LASIK & Vision Correction Surgery
- Oculoplastic & Facial Plastic Consults
- Optometry and Optical Shop
The Department of Dermatology is located on levels three, four and five of the Health Center. This facility allows the department to see more patients than was possible at the previous location. With 54 rooms for exams and procedures, the Clinic is expected to see more than half a million individuals who suffer with skin diseases. World-class dermatologists work together to care for patients with any number of skin afflictions, including:
- Skin cancer (screening and treatment)
- Skin allergies
- Skin Infections
Additionally, the Center houses experts in pediatric dermatology and cosmetics.
“This state of the art building reflects the [University of Utah Health Care’s] mission: to provide collaborative, compassionate, cutting-edge care,” Karen Newman, head of the Department of Dermatology said over email. The Midvalley Health Center, although still new, has already had a large impact on the community, and will continue to benefit patients for years to come.
