About This Project:
The Ray and Tye Noorda Oral Health Sciences Building will include approximately 75,000 gsf. The proposed building will be located in Research Park just east of the Orthopedic Center. The program will include a dental clinic with oral surgery, pediatrics, diagnostics and support space on level 1. The second level will include classrooms, lecture space, research labs, technique & simulation labs, support space and study/gathering space for students. The third level will be mostly used for administrative space and some space is reserved for future research lab space. The basement is intended to house much of the mechanical system for the building and provide some shell space for future use.
As part of the project, a 3 level parking terrace is planned to serve the patients, students and faculty that will be occupying the building. The parking structure is planned for approximately 168 cars at this time. The project is aiming for LEED Silver as a minimum for energy and sustainability. This building will serve the students of University of Utah with an exceptional education experience and the local community as well with great dental care. Some high lights with regards to the design include a rain screen wall system, LED lighting in strategic areas, day lighting strategies throughout the building and high performance glazing.
