EPA and University funded project to clean up a contaminated 2-acre plot (550 and 570 West 400 South) in Salt Lake City’s Rio Grande District.

May 2025: EPA Brownfield Cleanup Grant Award Announcement
September 2025: EPA Grant Co-operative Agreement and Award finalized with EPA
June 2026: Cleanup Contractor Selection Completed
July-September 2026: Site prep and Corrective Action Finalization
September-October 2026: Remedial Activities
October 2026 through December 2027 - Post-remediation Environmental Monitoring
September 2029: EPA Grant Budget Period Ends
Public Meeting and Comment
The University of Utah will host periodic virtual public meetings to share information about the cleanup project’s progress and answer questions from the community.
