The Horticulture team, including the greenhouse crew, is responsible for 61 acres of planting beds. We have 96 varieties of shrubs, 92 varieties of perennials, 25 varieties of ornamental grasses, 17 ground covers, 5 types of bulbs and annuals. We also take care of beds with no plant material in them.

The Horticulture Team is tasked with making campus look good. We do this by plant and shrub bed maintenance, picking up debris and weed control. Areas we cover include shrub and perennial beds, hardscape, mulched areas with or without plants and some bare dirt areas. We do nothing inside construction sites. If you see an issue, especially if it is safety related, let the crew leads know.

Plants we take care of include shrubs, perennials, annuals, bulbs, ground covers, ornamental grasses and vines. Trees are not ours to maintain, but we help keep an eye on trees in our beds and notify your crew lead or Arboriculture team if a tree needs attention.

Shrub care consists of monitoring shrub health, pruning, dead heading, planting and removal.
